Is Your Coaching Business Ready for Growth? Follow These 5 Signs.

I’ve seen it happen many times and sadly, I know it will happen again.

Just about every coach I know waits way too long before they focus on expanding their coaching practice.

Many coaches think there are other more important pieces – such as marketing and sales – that must be prioritized.

Or they think expansion happens naturally. When it’s time to grow, they’ll just know.

This is not true.

Growth is just as important – sometimes even more important – than all other aspects of running your coaching practice.

And it does not happen naturally.

You must be consciously focused on where your business is at all the time, so you’ll know exactly when to start creating plans for stress-free expansion.

Here are 5 signs that show your coaching business is ready for healthy growth.

Sign #1: You are in the right mental space

mental space

Building a business isn’t easy.

You must step out of your comfort zone again and again. You must face challenges and curve balls you never saw coming. You must think on your feet and have the guts to make major financial investments.

This means you need to be incredibly motivated and mentally prepared.

At all times.

So, how do you know if you are? How do you know you have the drive to get to bigger and bigger goals in your business?

Here are 2 questions to help you find out:

Are you excited when you think about offering more coaching services, packages and programs or does the thought fill you with fear and anxiety?

Do you feel an overwhelming drive to reach more people and have a bigger impact on the world?

If you answered yes to both questions, it means you are deeply motivated and in the right mental space for growth.

It means you’re prepared and ready to lead and to navigate past pitfalls and painful experiences to take your coaching business to the next level and beyond.

Sign #2: You’re forced to say “no”

A new client wants to work with you and she is a perfect fit.

But you look at your calendar and realize you can’t work with her – not if you want to have time to sleep and breathe.

This is a common problem that many coaches don’t recognize as a clear “alert” for growth.

Instead, they do their best to fit more and more clients into their calendar…

And end up burnt out, frustrated and miserable.

Remember…

If you’re starting to say no to new clients, it’s a clear sign you are operating at maximum capacity.

Your next step? Hire help and create a clear strategy to expand your business.

Sign #3: The numbers feel small

 feel small

When you first started out, your goals were probably tied to your monthly income or number of clients.

It was hard to believe you would ever hit $5,000, $10,000 or $20,000 every month.

You couldn’t imagine ever having more than 5 clients or 10.

But now you’ve hit those numbers more than once…

And they seem pretty small.

If you feel this way, it’s time to set bigger, bolder goals for your business and create an expansion and growth plan so you can get there.

Sign #4: You notice the flood

flood

Are you a health coach for new moms? A business coach for millennials? A life coach for empty nesters?

No matter what your niche is, take a long look at what’s going on in your area of expertise.

If you notice more and more coaches flooding into the same space, you’re in luck.

It shows your niche is growing…

And this means your business can too.

Sign #5: You have comeback kids

kids

Comeback kids – or return clients – are a growth symptom many coaches miss, but it’s one of the most awesome signs that tell you your business is ready for expansion.

Return clients mean your work is producing results. It means you are in demand and you are ready to reproduce and replicate your work in ways that will reach more people.

If this is you, connect with your repeat clients so you can get the specifics on why they love working with you.

This will give you a head start when you’re ready to expand and begin creating group programs, packages and other offerings that will allow you to reach and impact more clients.

If you want to build a solid, successful, sustainable 6 or 7-figure coaching business, you must think about growth a lot sooner than you think you should.

If you don’t, you’ll end up getting to a place where you’re too busy to expand your business but at the same time, that you know you must expand if you want to go to the next level of success.

This is a vicious cycle.

The most effective way to avoid it? Recognize these 5 signs of growth the second they appear.

You’ll steadily expand and increase your income and impact without breaking a sweat.
