Close your eyes for a moment.

Bring up a vision of a time when you hit an epic goal.

Go ahead and do it now. I’ll wait.

Got it? Good.

Now let me ask you this…

How did you feel at the time? What were your emotions? What fueled you to keep going or that goal? What motivated you?

If you dig deep and think about it, you’ll realize you were driven by passion.

Endless, bright, burning passion.

Passion will give you the motivation, courage and energy you need to keep going for your goals – in business and in life – no matter the challenges or obstacles.

But here’s something very few people talk about when it comes to passion and I want to highlight it today…

What happens when your passion fades? What do you do if that burning bright flame dies?

Is it all over? Is it time to give up and go home?

Not on your life.

Here’s what I’ve discovered…

Passion is unpredictable. Sometimes your passions grow. Sometimes they shrink. Sometimes they change. The secret to creating success in all areas of your life is to learn how to work with this unpredictable yet incredibly powerful emotion.

It’s how you can gain the most benefit and stay motivated to create life that’s successful, fulfilling and inspired.

Here are 3 highly effective ways to reignite your passion so you can go for your biggest goals and dreams.

1. Go for Fresh

Get creative and do things you’ve never done before.

Start small.

How can you introduce a fresh, new experience to your daily routine?

If you’re a morning person, you could try working at night for a few days.

If you’ve always loved reading in the evenings, try watching a movie instead.

If you love TV, turn it off for an entire week and see what happens.

When you’re ready to try something radical, aim for bigger, bolder experiences. Think about the things you’ve always wanted to do.

The things you’ve always wanted to try but set aside. Forget your bucket list. Look at doing it now.

Always wanted to go skydiving? Look at how you can make that happen.

Want to climb a mountain? Do your research and start training this week.

Passion flows when you release the old and welcome the new.

When you embrace fresh ideas and fresh experiences, your passion for life will return to you…

Faster than you ever thought possible.

2. Say Goodbye

Word of warning: this may sound extreme but hear me out…

Take a long, hard look at your friends and the people you regularly work with and play with.

Do you know people who constantly complain about everyone and everything?

Does anyone stand out as a “Negative Nelly” or a “Down and Out Dan?”

Are they great at pointing the finger and blaming others for everything that goes, even a little bit wrong, in their life?

I know people like this, I have some difficult news for you.

You might have to say goodbye to them and move on with your life.

There are very few “passion killers” that are as damaging as surrounding yourself with people who project endless negative energy.

If you want to reconnect with your passion, you must disconnect with those who bring you down.

3. Schedule Joy

Becoming a Coach

Nothing blocks passion more than overwork and overwhelm.

The antidote? Consciously welcome joy into your life.

Whatever doesn’t get scheduled doesn’t get done. So, look at your calendar and block some time for joy, this week and every week.

You can do anything you like this time but remember…

The secret is to aim for happiness, not productivity.

You could restart a cherished hobby.

You could look up an old friend for coffee and talk about the good old days.

You could stay home and read those novels you’ve been meaning to get to.

Whatever you decide, commit to this time and protect it with everything you’ve got.

Don’t allow work, to-do lists and other routine chores and tasks get in the way.

Spending time on the things that make you happy is one of the most powerful ways to reconnect with yourself and reignite your passion.

When you think about your life and take stock of what worked and what didn’t minus judgment or fear, you’ll notice that passion is the running theme that creates success.

It gives you the energy and purpose you need, to go for those big goals…

And almost without exception, lack of passion will lead to emptiness, disappointment and failure.

So, set the intention to live a life of creativity and inspiration…

A life of energy and of passion.

It’s the path to authentic joy.

It’s the path to freedom and success.
